STEP ONE: Ministry Agreement

Terms of Service
Our church agrees to follow the teaching curriculum guidelines in Texas Bible English.

We understand that all material from Texas Bible English is under copyright protection and may not be copied, sold, or used without permission.

We agree to teach the stories and verses of the Bible as the inerrant Word of God - that the stories of the Bible are true and factual history - and that every person is a sinner, Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose again to offer the free gift of eternal life - there is no other way to God and Heaven but Jesus.

STEP TWO: Prayer Focus

Work with your church leadership to choose a prayer focus for your ESL ministry.

  • PRAYER TEAM – Group texts to send requests and praises each week for prayer.
  • CHURCH SERVICE PRAYER – Prayer during weekly church services for ESL ministry.
  • SMALL GROUPS – Bible study groups assigned to each ESL class to pray for teachers and students by name.
  • PRAYER PARTNERS – Attend class as a teacher helper to get to know students and pray for them each week.
  • PRAYER COORDINATOR – Ministry position to maintain prayer focus during each semester.
  • TEACHER PRAYER – Director and teachers pray together before, after class, or on a different day for the students and classes.

STEP THREE: Set Up Checklist

ESL Director Checklist to prepare everything for teachers and students.

  • Choose a messaging platform to get information to your teachers and to send reminders and class updates to your students (WhatsApp seems to work best for most of our students, but group texts, or other apps work also.)
  • Set up a calendar and schedule for classes. Decide what days and times you will offer classes. Set up teacher training.
  • Prepare classrooms – TV monitors or projector for each classroom – Computers or tablets or phones (can be teacher’s personal electronics) – cables and adapters as necessary – Whiteboards and markers or chalkboards

STEP FOUR: Teacher Enlistment and Training

Teacher preparation checklist

  • Enlist teachers for each class
  • Use Texas Bible English teacher training videos

STEP FIVE: Advertisement and Registration Suggestions

Choose the best advertisement plan for your church. Suggestions some churches have used:

  • Facebook Ads with links to registration
  • Social media posts with shareable links and social media community groups
  • Signs or flyers – church yard signs, neighborhood signs
  • Registration on your church website or through an advertised email address

STEP SIX: Teach Classes

Checklist for first class

  • Clear plan for students to buy books if they want them for class. They can buy them on their own at Amazon or your church can purchase them and have them ready for the first class.
  • Enlist translators or other volunteers with a translation app that can help students understand the details of class.
  • Prepare an information page including the messaging platform you will use for class information, church information and times for services or other meetings, calendar and schedules.
  • There is an introduction class for each level that can be used before lesson 1. This gives the students an opportunity to learn the basics of class, see what each level will cover, and order their books to be ready for lesson 1.

STEP SEVEN: Celebration and Certificates

Encourage and reward your students

  • Print Certificates: Texas Bible English does not take grades or attendance. The completion certificates are at the teacher’s discretion for students who participated. There is no way to keep track of how many videos they watched or how much they practiced.
  • Celebration Set up: Consider decorating, telling students to bring snacks or asking church members or classes to prepare food, and suggest that students invite their friends and families to the graduation celebration.
  • Plan Celebration schedule: Decide the best way to honor your students. Use this time also as an opportunity to share the Gospel again. Consider asking your teachers or other church members to share a testimony of how God has changed their life. Call each student up to receive their certificate. Take pictures.
  • Next Semester: Prepare information and schedules for the next semester to give to your students at the celebration. Allow students to sign up or even pre-buy their books.
  • Give Thanks – Give glory to God for what He did during the semester. Give praise at your church and report to your prayer team how God worked.
